Kathy Murray is an experienced and creative business growth executive, angel investor and advisor. She applies her sales and operational skills to achieve significant cooperation, operational efficiencies and revenue in order to increase each firm’s revenue growth. Kathy is Principal of McMorran Strategists, LLC. Earlier, Kathy held key C-Suite roles at publicly-traded firms and partnerships - Aetna, PwC and FARO - in sales, business development and operations.
Other current affiliations include: Board Member of Daily Gazette (a Schenectady family-owned media firm), Co-founder of Tech Up for Women, Founder of Executive Forum (EF) Angels, Chair of Harvard Business School Women's Association, Life Trustee for the University of Rochester Board and Fellow at the Foreign Policy Association. Kathy is a frequent speaker/instructor on business development, angel investing, innovation, strategic thinking and building relationships.
In the past, she has served on the Board of Verity Wines LLC, a wine distributor in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Board of New England Mechanical Services, a heating, ventilation and air conditioning firm, previously in Hartford, CT and Advisory Board of TempBuddy, a Saas Enterprise Software for temp firms based in Dublin, Ireland. She recently was named a Centennial Laureate by the Ellis School and honored by the Women's Venture Fund.
At PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PwC), as Managing Director of Operations from 2000-2008, Kathy created and led services including global sourcing/procurement, real estate leasing/facilities, security, crisis management, operational risk management, records, travel services, event management, supplier diversity…and the technology to enable these functions. During 2013, Kathy’s work at FARO Technologies Inc, the leading provider of 3D laser measurement tools, was as Global Market Development - exploring new markets for the value disruptive and innovative 3D products and services. Prior to 2000, she was at Aetna Inc as Senior VP of Aetna Retirement Services and earlier as COO of Aetna Business Resources. She began her career in sales and marketing leadership roles at Aetna and at INA (now Cigna). Staff reporting to her has been over 3000 people with related budgets of $550 million, as well as the accountability for procurement spends of over $3 billion.
Kathy received a BA in Math and General Science from the University of Rochester and the Advanced Management Program Degree from Harvard Business School.
